I had brand new tires (almost $800 for all four) put on my car, and since then I’ve replaced three TPMS sensors. Not to mention before I even got new tires, I still had to replace one or two TPMS sensors. One sensor tends to be around $80, and I got them with new valve stems each time ($20), so total of $100 each time I’ve fixed the recurring issue. I’m currently facing one tire (rear driver side) going low every week, with the TPMS dash light coming on, and going off when I fill the tire. I’ve gotten the tire looked at by mechanics, who say there weren’t any leaks.
I’ve had just the valve stem in that specific tire changed maybe two months ago, and it still has the issue. I’m probably going to have to replace yet another TPMS sensor. Each one I’ve gotten replaced was corroded, and I’ve only had the car for two years. I’ve replaced maybe in total, FIVE sensors over this time. Once, I went to fill my tire with air and when I took the air pump nozzle off of my valve stem, IT RIPPED THE VALVE STEM COMPLETELY OUT. I was stuck at the gas station where I had to put on my spare tire, and drop the car off at the mechanics and take a cab home. (Not cheap because I live far from everything). I’m waiting for the day my tires give out while I’m driving, and I die from this issue. I can really see it happening.
