The car had been losing 1 litre of oil every 5000km since I purchased in 2008. Car was running fine until it sat for 2 weeks on vacation. Upon starting, a loud 'ticking' noise came from the engine, although it still ran, I was told by two mechanics that it was not a good situation. I replaced the engine with a used 2.3L with 125,000 km. The engine alone was $2400...supply only! I still had one year left to pay on the car.
