CarComplaints.com Notes: The only area of real concern for 2012 Mazda CX-9 owners is the brake booster.
In 2014, Mazda extended the warranty on the 2007-2013 CX-9 brake booster to 7 years / 90,000 miles. However this extended warranty has expired for most CX-9 owners, so buyer beware.
This Mazda CX-9 brake booster failure isn't terrible in terms of repair cost — it "only" costs $550 average to fix. However it is a safety issue when the brake booster fails as it increases stopping distance. Owners have reported having to stomp on the brake pedal, & crashes/injuries have been reported due to this CX-9 brake booster defect.

We own a 2011 Mazda CX7 and a 2012 Mazda CX9, the motors in the drivers and passenger side windows of both cars when out within a 6 month period of time. The warrant on the cars were out at 36K miles and in 2014. The motors both stopped working past this period time but have read this has happened on these same vehicles. The windows go down but start making a loud clicking sound and will not go back up with out holding you hand on it, creating a very dangerous situation with small children.
The Mazda CX9 that we purchased has a acceleration problem when we go to stop.. Mazda has never been able to solve the problem completely.. we have had 2 brake boosters replaced under warranty. We feel the car is unsafe to drive and Mazda has not addressed the problem. They tell us nothing is wrong with the car. It know also has transmission problems with squeaking and grinding noises coming from the car. This is a design flaw that has not been addressed.

Brakes prematurely failed after feeling numb and squishy. Upon diagnostic by a local mechanic, it was determined that the brake master cylinder had a leak. In addition, the ABS, traction control and emergency brake lights came on when the symptoms were present. Estimated cost of repair $1250.
This navigation system does not speak the street names making me look at the screen for the name of the street. Very dangerous. No help from Mazda. The system needs an upgrade.
