Contacted Mazda customer care at mazdacustomerexperience@mazdausa.com with complaint File Number 00245013. They told me that Sensors are not covered under Mazda Certified Pre Owned warranty. Here is the Chronological order of events:

  1. Bought Certified Pre Owned Mazda CX-5 on Dec 12, 2023 from Modern Mazda of Burlington
  2. Took to Capital Mazda of Cary on April 12, 2024 to check some noise and rain sensor. I was denied coverage as they mentioned they need contract details of the warranty coverage provider. They mentioned they only cater to certain Mazda Certified pre-owned vehicles.
  3. Upon giving them bad feedback Capital Mazda of Cary accepted Mazda Certified Warranty Coverage and were ready to take a look at the problems.
  4. Went to Capital Mazda of Cary on May 23, 2024. They fixed the noise problem but denied warranty coverage for rain sensors.

After being tired of Mazda dealers denying warranty for internal equipment's, I reached out to Mazda customer care. And well, that customer care hander me over a document which details coverage.

Document says "Covered Components The Mazda Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty covers any repair of a defect in material or workmanship (except wear

and tear), unless excluded in the "Parts and Service NOT covered" section."

Under that section of "Parts and Service NOT covered" there is no mention of any sensor and he denied warranty because he could not find word sensor in it, without realizing that it's an exclusion list. Meaning if something is not mentioned in the list, it's covered.

Here is my last email to them

Not sure if you are reading this section in your document. Please read it again if it is not clear.

Your document says ->>>>>> "Covered Components The Mazda Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty covers any repair of a defect in material or workmanship (except wear

and tear), unless excluded in the "Parts and Service NOT covered" section."

Now please note where it says "unless excluded", if something is not mentioned in the excluded section then it's covered. Now since "Sensors" is not part of the "Parts and Service NOT covered" section, it's covered.

For example: All the wiring stuff and chips in the car are not part of "Parts and Service NOT covered", that makes all the wiring and chips used in the car covered.

Please take help from your colleagues and see what they think of it.

The list of things that are listed as covered is part of "Mazda Certified Pre-Owned Limited Powertrain Warranty" which is different from "Mazda Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty".

Thanks,
