I traded in a 2018 CX-5 for a 2020 at the end of April due to the incentives that they were offering. I chose the tan colored interior. Because of the pandemic, I have been driving significantly less. When I first noticed the issue the car had slightly over 1000 miles. I was in the backseat and noticed a blue dot in the leather. I grabbed a microfiber towel and some cleaner and started rubbing with no luck. The dots are embedded in the leather. I brought the car into my local dealership where they first accused me of driving with my windows down and spraying the washer fluid. (What idiot would do that?) They then sent out the service manger who took photos of every spot and wrote a description of the location.
Several days later I get a phone call saying that Mazda USA has denied my warranty request. He informed me it would cost $6-7k to replace all the interior components. I then reached out to Mazda USA where I was flat out told that they would not repair the issue because they believe I caused it even though the service manager said that it to him appeared to be a manufacturing defect. Now I'm stuck in limbo with both sides saying there is nothing they can do.
If it's not a manufacturing defect then why are they not attempting to clean these so they can see that it's not on the surface of the leather? I have since reached out to the dealer where I purchased from and am hoping to get some sort of resolution from them. If you purchase one of these cars with a tan interior, look over every inch of the interior for this issue because Mazda apparently doesn't stand behind their product.
