I came to a complete stop about 14 feet from someone. We were waiting to merge from an off-ramp. Both of us completely stopped, my foot on the brake, the engine revved up. It was a pretty full sounding rev. I pushed the brake harder, looked at my dashboard. The car beeped to BRAKE! (said BRAKE!), a notification of Front Sensor failure flashed. Brake, floored to the ground, confused and scared in this very quick moment, the car revving, jolted forward into the rear-end of this guy, and then, only after impact, I felt like I had control again. We were both so confused, him, because he saw me already behind him, fully stopped, and myself, because what the heck just happened!?
I went to the dealership a few days after. They thought I was crazy, but they did look it over and replaced the infotainment console, and the front sensor because it was over-heating.
Before this problem happened with the revving, the infotainment system would constantly change radio stations, mute calls, just odd stuff while we were driving. It would even change brightness modes.
Anyways, yes, my car engine revved from a complete stop, and I felt like I had no control over the situation. Luckily, it was very minor, and no one was hurt.
