I bought my 2016 CX 5 brand new in October 2015. By the time I was due for first service my windshield had numerous deep scratches across the full length of the windshield and in perfect arcs mirroring the wipers. I did not use any after market materials, did not go any car was with brushes and used no tools (ice scrappers, etc...) on the windshield. This happened by itself from regular use within 4 month of owning the car. Keep in mind that in person you see a lot more of it than is evident in the picture and at night it is particularly bad.
I have owned Honda CRVs in the past sold many years later with almost 300k KM on them and never seen this happen. This seems to be coincidental with other complaints about poor quality of the windshields in CX5s.
Dealership refused to do anything about it under warranty. First line of communication with Mazda customer service was met with the illogical suggestion that I caused this through my use of ice scrapper!
I'm now attempting to deal with a different channel at Mazda to see if they can help me address it and will update with more details when I have given them a chance to respond adequately to the situation. I'm not typically one who wants to waste time with small issues or one who complains a lot, but the fact that their customer support person tried to pawn it off illogically as my fault has really frustrated me and that's why I'm perusing it further.
