Brakes constantly squeak at low speeds. My vehicle is a CPO that has all Mazda parts. The pads and rotors have all been check twice by the dealer and they say there are no problems. The squeaking only happens when the brakes are cool. Once they warm up they no longer make the noise. The only advice from the dealer was to spray an all purpose cleaner on them and power wash them. I'm going to avoid going this route because an all purpose cleaner will wash away the grease from components that need lubrication. The 2013-2014 CX5's had this issue and a TSB was issued by Mazda but they have not yet done that for the 2016 models.

I leased a 2016 Mazda CX-5 in October 2015. At just around the 7k milage mark, I started hearing squeaky brakes when I was driving along at lower speeds, then stopping. I thought it might go away, but it became continual, and my commute is 30 miles each way in heavy traffic. Therefore, I was hearing this loud (yes, quite loud) squeak constantly. It was beyond annoying!

I took the car to the dealer numerous times, and they could never hear the noise. Brought in again, and finally the tech heard the issue as I was driving out of the bay with him. He jumped out and listened closely to me drive and stop, and everyone heard it and agreed it was rear brakes causing the noise. So they decided to lube up the brakes really good and see if it went away. It did - for 2 months.

Once it started up again, the dealer then replaced all the brakes to see if the issue went away. It did not! After hearing from the service tech that it's the car and Mazda doesn't have great parts, blah blah...(he truly lost me once he started saying Ford had better parts than Mazda), I politely cut in and asked, "Are you telling me I will have noisy brakes for the life of this car?!". Once my Sales Rep heard that, she took action. Called me the next day saying they wanted to get me into a new car since they couldn't find the issue with this. I was now at 20k miles and one year after the lease contract, so that's 13k miles of them not figuring out what was wrong with my brakes.

On December 18, 2016, I was put into a new lease, same Soul Red 2016 Touring CX-5, now minus the remote started I had added to the first one. Hoping this was just a fluke since no one else seemed to be complaining of the issue but me. People in the CX-5 Facebook club weren't, the dealer told me he hadn't heard from any other owners of the issues (taking that with a grain of salt, of course) but also people I know that own the car, same year. Thinking I'm in good shape.

I'm now eight months into the new car, with 9k miles and I've been hearing the rear break squeaking for 2k miles now! Exactly the same time it started with the last car. It can't be just a fluke for me to have two cars with the same issue, but no one else? I'm not hearing things - I have audio of the noise, my friend's husband heard it for two seconds and said what it was (he's a mechanic). Others hear it, so it's not in my head. It's just insane that there is no known issue or fix!

Finally this past week, a Facebooker told me that he had the issue, too. Sent me a photo of his service receipt in hopes it can help me out. I'm going back to the dealer in a few days and I hope I get good news - a fix!

If anyone has had this issue, I'd love to know it's not just me. Please tell me if it was fixed and how?!

My 2016 Mazda CX-5 has exhibited the identical problems resolved by MAZDA's TSB 04-005/15. Unfortunatley this TSM only (according to my local MAZDA Service Mgr) model years 2013-2014 made before Oct 9, 2013 (VINs lower than JM3KE**401869).

My rear brakes (less than 30,000mi) have the identical problem (outer pads are condemnable, with the inner pads showing slight wear)

I had to replace my brakes otherwise I would have ruined my rotors.

My shortcoming when visiting the dealer was that I forgot to bring my worn pads to show them that TSB 04-005/15 should also apply to this model year. the Mgr actually told me he was audited by MAZDA for doing a lot of these repairs on cars build AFTER the TSB date.

Right now MAZDA has no update to this TSB to include 2016 CX-5 model year. (or 2015, too). They had a TSB for reported dragging brakes, but that was removed from MAZDA's TSB database; this month (JAN 2017) he believes an update will be forthcoming

To fix this problem, I'm going to implement the complete TSB repair. At least this will put my wife's mind at ease.

I bought this car brand new. The squeaky sound from the rear brake has happened numerous times and the dealer has said that nothing can be done unless they hear the problem. I know that in the past two model years this has been a problem and was covered under a TSB advisory to Mazda. I believe that the 2016 models also fall under this TSB because I have seen similar complaints. I've already brought my car to the dealers twice and now have to bring my car in again due to a new problem (transmission) that I have reported on a separate complaint. I don't feel at all safe in this car. The last time I brought my car in for this problem, the dealer kept the car for a week and did "test" drives and did not hear the noise. I told them that this noise was intermittent and I could not replicate the noise when the mechanic and I took a dirve with the car. I know that I'm not going crazy and I shouldn't be hearing this noise especially on a car that has around 7500 miles. The previous years TSB advisory says that it's either the rotors or premature rust on the rotors but the dealer refuses to do anything unless they hear the sound. I know that I am not imagining this noise.
