I went to start my CX-30 in the late morning of 1/18/2024 and well, it wouldn't. Seemed to have a dead battery. Got a jump start from AAA, their jump box said the car was charging so it appeared to be the battery.
From a fan site for this model, there seems to be 2 factors for this. One is a 'cheap' quality and capacity battery. The original is only 520 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). Second is draining issues that can run down the battery, I guess for safety, convenience and a dash cam I have hooked up full time sucks up a lot of juice. The original battery was installed at the factory in August 2021, I had bought the car in September 2021.
As no longer under the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty (has 38,500) a replacement battery was on me. I replaced the battery with a much better NAPA one, with 650 CCA. Hopefully this will never be an issue again. My point is that an original battery should last 4-5 years, not even 2.5 years. It is an annoying issue, glad it happened at home and not in some isolated or hazardous place.
