In the past 6 months, the back up camera intermittently did not engage when the car was placed in reverse which was very upsetting since this was one of the features that influenced my decision to purchase the vehicle in June 2019. I did not take it to the dealership because it would work the next time I drove the car. I found so many posts on internet with the same problem and sadly no remedy.
So, I decided to wait but on 4/10/20, the car had another problem: the infotainment screen was blank when I started the car.
On 4/11/20, I started the car and the screen was not blank but the navigation screen had rolling lines as well as being fuzzy and the tabs were entirely different. When I arrived at the dealership, it had not corrected itself which was good so the service writer was able to actually see the issue. However, before he had the car taken back for servicing, he pushed tabs until the screen looked like it should. BUT NOW THE TECH IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM.
SO AFTER SITTING THERE FOR 2 HOURS, THEIR SOLUTION TO BOTH ISSUES WAS TO UPDATE THE INFOTAINMENT TO 70 352 FROM 70 100 AND CUSTOMER TO MONITOR.
l wasn't surprised at this but I know this was not fixed and I was right. Before I got home, the backup camera screen was gray and had scrolling lines on it.
When I put the car in reverse to go to the dealership two days later, it worked. And of course, the technician won't be able to duplicate the problem and I will get the car back with the same problem. The service writer even told me that the technician will probably not find anything wrong.
So what am I to do, but continue taking the car to the dealership which is "A Pain in the Ass" until the dealership corrects the problem by reading their Technical Service Bulletins, reaching out to the Mazda manufacturer of the product, or replacing the camera. I KNOW THIS: THIS IS NOT OVER!!!!!!!
