Transmission problems with a code of P1744. Dealer advised to go for rebuilt one and charged me over $3000 with taxes. I think Mazda should take some responsibility looking at so many other incidences that I found on the web.

I bought a brand new Mazda 626. At about 13,000 miles, the transmission went out. I reported the problem and Mazda replaced the transmission with a new one. At about 33,000 miles, the transmission went out again, and they replaced it with a new transmission. At about 55,000 miles, the transmission went out again, and Mazda told me that it was no longer their problem since the transmission was no longer under warranty. They said that since they replaced my transmission, it was only warranted for one year, and since my original warranty had expired, there was nothing that they would do.

I bought a Mazda 626 2001 in October 2005. In January of 2006 (4 months later) the transmission blew up. Tranny fluid was every where and there was a hole in the tranny it's self, I was stranded. Thankfully I purchased the extended warranty, and the factory warranty covered the cost. Again. Less than a month and a half, I have the same problem. I took it back to the transmission shop and they told me that if was a 'wear and tear" problem. I then took it to the original dealer and the informed me that it was the transmission mounts that caused it to slip. The dealer again sent it to their contractor...the same ones that 'fixed' it before. Needless to say I have come to my ends trying to fix my car. I rely on my car for transportation to get not only myself to work, but also my nephew to daycare, and my mother to work. If you could please help me get resources, or help me resolve my problem I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your help. I hope to hear from you soon.

Purchased auto in July 2001. I drive a great deal and took my car religiously in for service to the dealer. Upon getting an oil change at about 30K miles I had to get my engine replaced due to a defective oil filter. Transmission (clutch pak) burned out at 100K miles. No help from Mazda. They actually had my car for over a month and wanted me to pay another diagnostic fee for hooking the car up to the machine. No estimate was given. Mazda associates constantly were unavailable and hung up on me many times.
