Car details: Mazda odel 626, year of mfg: 1995, 4 door, auto transmission, no. Of miles (till the date of complaint): 87,410 miles. This is a used car and I bought it in December 2003. The miles on the car when I bought was about 84,500. Problem: 1) events leading to the failure: There was a slip in the car every time the car was started from rest. I showed it to my mechanic and he suggested the problem to be due to new brake pads which I had got changed about two months back.I use the car mainly inside the city and it was working perfectly fine. I drove it only once on the interstate for about 30 minutes (this was on the day of complaint) and while coming on the way I saw that the car was having lot of jerks whenever I slowed down or stopped at any signal. Also the pick up of the car was very poor. The transmission could not pick the power the engine was producing and I had a problem even getting to 30 mph. As soon as I saw this I did not drive any further. The very next day I got my car towed to my mechanic. 2) the failure: The trasmission oil in the car was low, the gear teeth in the transmission were broken; the clutch plates were worn out; the left axel had eaten away the sleeve of the transmission on the left side.the worn out metal (of the gear) was supposedly carried over to other parts of the transmission which caused some other gears to get damaged. 3) presently the car and the old transmission both are with my mechanic. I have not taken any decision so far as the cost of rebuilding the transmission is more than the cost of the car itself.
Transmission is going out for 2nd time. First rebuilt at 114K000 now at 119K000, need another transmission. A transmission should not fail after 5,000 miles.
Overdrive light for transmission came on repeatedly, shiftlock would not allow me to shift transmission without first inserting ignition key in shift lock and placing transmission in neutral...driving on expressway car start losing power like downshifting with manual transmission then stops need new transmission! problem stated at 67,0000...car transmission completely goes at 91,000.
I purchased my 1995 Mazda 626 new. After having the car for only a few months and less than 3,000 miles the transmission went out and had to be replaced. Because the car was under warranty, they replaced it. However, it was only after the car left me on the side of the road that they agreed to fix it. I had taken the car in three times previously because of problems, but each time they said it was something different and that they had fixed it. Recently, I had the transmission rebuilt. I have taken it back 4 times in the past 4 months because I am still having problems with it. No one should ever buy a Mazda again! I have seen the numerous posts regarding problems with the transmission and each of them describe what happened to mine. The overdrive light flashes off and on, it has difficulty going into gear, it stalls between gears and constantly leaks transmission fluid. Mazda should be forced to recall this transmission!
'95 Mazda 626, automatic transmission failures. @30,000 miles, anty) @65,000 miles, (warranty - I paid for labor) and @78,000 miles. Mazda/Ford is aware of the issue and continues to accept zero responsibility.
I own a 1995 Mazda 626, it has 80,000 miles on it and the O/D off light flases, oil light comes on periodically, it shifts eradically, and it's leaking transmission fluid. My mechanic says I can keep refilling the transmission fluid, but it should only last another 2000 miles. Or I could pay almost the same amount I paid for the car to get a new transmission.
O/D light flashing, fixed the same problem about 6 months ago. Mechanic says happens to all Mazda's with the Ford transmission. Mazda not making a recall.
Transmission failed! I bought the car 3 months ago from a dealer and the transmission is now finished. Rebuilt the transmission and the day I took it home (I didn't even get 5 miles from the shop ) the same problem occured. Slips in and out of gears at all speeds, od light comes on out of no where. 2000 dollars later I still don't have my car. Thanx Mazda.
1995 Mazda 626. The transmission went out at about 103,000 miles. After driving for extended periods (45 minutes to 1 hour), the car began to chug when taking off from a start. Began to have problems going into gear when engine was cold. Transmission needed to be rebuilt.
Replaced transmission at 68,000 miles. Now at 74,000 miles O/D light is blinking and the car jerks when trying to accelerate to 50 mph on highway. Appears to be transmission problem that is extremely common in this make of 95 Mazda 626.
I brought a used Mazda 626 5 months ago. I have had two transmissions put into it and it is now sitting on the side of the road again. First the O/D light would start blinking and I would lose gears. Then all of the gears would just completely go. My car also shakes while idling. And the brakes are about to go out. They catch and go.
Automatic transmission is faulty, it is a Ford transmission. The dealers acknowledge the problem and are aware that it is faulty, however, refused to replace. When you replace the transmission you are replacing it with another faulty transmission lemon and scheme, how could they get away with this?
I am the owner of a 1995 Mazda 626 and the transmission is bad in my car once again. I have replaced the transmission in this car 3 times in the previous years and I am unable to pay for another transmission. This transmission should have been recalled years ago. I purchased this car new and now I am out of 19, 500 that I paid for this car.
