Noticed the problem: Initially, with an open driver door, if the the door is held open for a few seconds - the high beam dashboard indicator comes on. NO lights are on just the dashboard High Beam indicator. Close the door, indicator goes off. Problem gets worse: insert key, seats do not move into position. (This is typically an indication there is going to be a failure.) After a few seconds... dashboard indicator(s) light up: High Beam, Brake, Oil. Car will start BUT Parking release will not allow shift lever to move into gear. Work Around: open and close driver door a few times - error will clear.
Nowadays: opening and closing door doesn't remedy the failure every time. But with luck it may work once to get the shift lever to move to drive or reverse. Also, while in failure mode, you cannot turn on seat A/C or heat, and while driving the automatic door locks don't engage and turn signals won't work. After a few minutes driving, the door locks will engage on their own (scaring the driver) and the dashboard indicators go off.
The issue seems to involve the ignition switch, the drivers door and possibly heat from being parked in the sun.
Service Centers are stumped. No offer to troubleshoot, let alone repair. This is my LAST Ford product.
