We have a 2005 Lincoln Town Car. Purchased used from a private individual. While driving and trying to brake, the car accelerates rapidly. Have to apply pressure to the brake and put it in neutral and hopefully get to the side of the road and turn off engine. We can restart it and it will work fine BUT you never know when it will happen again. It has done it 5 times in 10 months. Parked now for about a month and too scared to drive it. I have read other complaints on here and most have said the dealer can duplicate the problem and don't know the problem. I don't want to spend a fortune on it as it is 13 yrs old and in good shape other than this one problem which could be deadly.
