I was in our city cemetery trying to back up when the accelerator went all the way to the floor. I applied the brake; however, they would not halt the car. I tried to drive in reverse at a high speed when I lost control and landed in the middle of two grave plots. The accident cause a great deal of damage to two granite vases and four 16x16" corner posts which were dislodged and dragged with the car until it stopped. The car was deemed a total loss. Prior to this, the car was in great condition.
I read that sometimes when the brakes were applied, the accelerator could adversely also get stuck. Is there any way I might seek compensation for my now demolished vehicle? Seven park rangers, the cemetery sexton, the police, and a friend showed up. Everyone took pictures. I expressed my relief that no one died as they were all already dead. Everyone laughed.
