This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
"roaring" noise from the rear end at 30-50 mph. Dealer (metropolitan Lincoln-Mercury in louisville, ky) diagnosed the problem as worn rear axles and axle bearings. Axles, bearings, seals, and brake rotors were replaced at a cost to me of $932. I was told there is a recall to fix this problem because of a early failure in the axle shafts due to an inadequate heat treating, but my vehicle was "not on the list" that qualified. See NHTSA campaign id # 04V328000. If I have the problem that is being fixed by the recall, why isn't my vehicle covered?
