The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town car. The contact was driving 35 to 45 mph when the driver's side air bag deployed and exploded without warning. The failure caused injuries to the contact's back. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was also notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 135,075 updated 6/4/12 updated 06/11/12
The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town car. While driving 65 mph, the air bag on the driver's side deployed without warning. After the deployment, the driver's side seat sustained damage on the left side. The contact was not injured. He called the manufacturer and they stated that the air bag module was already replaced under the recall remedy; therefore, no compensation would be provided. The failure mileage was 56,600 and current mileage was 56,637.
The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town car. While driving 45 mph, the driver's side frontal air bag deployed without warning or impact. The failure mileage was 113,480 and current mileage was 113,500. Updated 09/15/08 update 09/18/08.
2001 Lincoln towncar customer states that the air bags did not deploy* the consumer stated that she was involved in an accident the air bags did not deploy nor did the seat belt keep her secure during the collision. The consumer has provided a copy of the letter provided by Ford and pictures of the damaged vehicle.
While driving at 15 mph passenger side air bag deployed. Dealer claimed that the consumer was at fault, but repaired the problem anyway. Several months later the exact same problem occurred a while driving across a gravel road. Dealer refused to repair the problem.
While driving passenger's side airbag deployed and injured passenger. Consumer stated that if it had been on driver's side, and consumer was on highway, consumer would have been knocked from steering wheel.that may have been a life threatening situation. Consumer took vehicle to dealer, and dealer stated that consumer ran over something on the road that triggered sensors for side airbag. Vehicle hit nothing. This was second Town car that that consumer has experienced a life threatening situation. Vehicle pulls to the left. Trunk would not close properly due to it being out of adjustment.
Passenger side air bag deployed at 70 mph with no impact to vehicle. Lost control of vehicle temporarily and crossed traffic to other side of road. Regained control after crossing back to original lane shoulder and braking hard. Very frightening experience considering the noise, surprise and dust from the air bag deploying. Only good thing was that no traffic was coming in other lane.
Air bags will not deploy. Air bag lights had been on for a couple days. When consumer drives vehicle airbag light comes on. Contact dealer, and dealer has vehicle in shop to determine cause.
