This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
We have purchased a 2005 Lincoln Navigator. It is the only vehicle I have seen where there is no "door/flap" in the filler neck to prevent "splash back"of fuel in the event the cap is left off. I have checked the 2006 models, they appear to be the same. The dealer cannot advise why it is like that. I would assume it would present a fire hazard if the cap is accidentally left off. I have checked-there are no recalls as a result of this. If there is an internal splash back protection in the tank, no one seems to know about it. Have put incident date as the date the car was purchased. Thank you.
