The contact owns a 2000 Lincoln Navigator. While driving the passenger smelled a burning odor. Upon further inspection he noticed that the wiring harness, main terminal, compressor and the alternator had melted. Prior to the failure, he heard a peculiar noise. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor has he notified the manufacturer. The current and failure mileages were approximately 169,000.
Consumer noticed smoke coming from underneath vehicle, shut off engine and smoke stopped. Continued to drive home, pulled into driveway, and vehicle's brakes were not working.
