The contact owns a 2006 Lincoln Mark lt. While driving 45 mph, the suspension loosened and the vehicle dropped to the ground. The tires began to skid and the vehicle struck a mountain and bounced back into traffic. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash. After the vehicle was inspected, the contact was informed that the front strut was welded incorrectly. The purchase date was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 20,300. Updated 01/14/08. Upon inspection, the welding was not properly fused to the shaft. Under stress the shaft came apart and locked the wheel. Welding on two sides of the shaft was not sufficient to hold the stress load.
