My new 2014 MKZ Hybrid has broken down three times with the same problem. The engine emergency coolant lights goes on . The owner manual tells you to pull over to a save spot and contact Lincoln's road side assistance . Twice this ended in towing the vehicle to the nearest Lincoln.-ford dealership. The. tested for leaks in the coolant system and found none. One first time this occurred was 150 miles away in another state and second time being 200 miles away from home.
The first time it happened in was on a Monday and the Lincoln road side assistance was able to get a tow within 2 hours and the dealership provided a rental for next three days. ( Only wasted approximately 3 hours of my life.) Unfortunately the next time occurred on a Saturday at 12:30. Apparently the B team works Saturdays at the call center.
I ended up arraigning and paying for tow truck to get the vehicle to the nearest dealership before they closed at four. The call center told me it was a 3 to 4 Hr. wait for them to provide a tow and it was up to me to find a rental because they expected the dealership would be closed by the time their tow would even get to my vehicle. The dealership provided a loaner vehicle-a new Lincoln-not a dirty Chevy or mini van from Enterprise.
The car now official qualifies for the Massachusetts lemon law to kick in if the problem occurs again. This is my third MKZ from Lincoln and it might be my last. The first two vehicles were great.
