There was a dinging sound and a red triangle message that stated "STOP SAFELY NOW", and all of a sudden as I'm going around 50 miles an hour, the car shuts down. I can feel the engine is shutting off so I am fortunately able to pull off to the shoulder of the road. I put car in park and cut off ignition. Then after a few seconds, restarted it and drove straight home.
My husband drove the car today and it has not happened, but this is not the first time, so I expect it to happen again. I have made an appointment at the Lincoln dealer, but they can't check until mid May. Have a road trip planned for July, but there is no way I'd drive this car unless they can detect what's causing it and fix it. I can't imagine being on the interstate and have the car completely shut down like this. Guy in service department said he didn't see any recall or problems with this, but just on this website I've been reading other people with this same thing happening, I'm just saying this could for sure cause a deadly crash. For sure it should be a recall.
