I was driving my car on the highway, as I always do at about 65-70 MPH and noticed a dinging sound and a red triangle message that stated "STOP SAFELY NOW" Considering I was in gridlock with my 7 year old, we almost lost our life when the power instantly reduced and we were in the far left lane needing to get over 5 lanes. When I finally was able to get of the highway, I noticed that I could only go about 10-15 MPH and my AC started blowing hot air. I pulled over and panicked since my daughter was in tears and called my husband. I sat for about 5 minutes and restarted the car and "VOILA" it started up just fine, AC was back blowing and light was gone.
I then started to drive back on the highway and within a mile, it did it again. Silly me thinking it was a 1 time issue, I was once again, back in the far left lane, fearing for my life. I was able to get of again with my hazards blinking and pulled into a parking lot. I had the car towed and a mechanic look at it only to be told, there is nothing wrong. I continued to drive the car minimizing my travel and once again, the light came back on. This time I was prepared and in the right lane. I exited and cut the car off and waited about 10 minutes. Since I wasn't far from home, I took the side streets for about another 3 miles.
At this point, I clearly disagreed with the mechanic stating that nothing is wrong with the car. Trying not to insult the mechanics observation, I went to another mechanic who told me the same thing, "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR CAR" . Sadly, I'm not sure what to do at this point. My 7 year old is horrified at the thought of getting in my car due to these incidents and I believe FORD/MERCURY/LINCOLN may need to backtrack some of its work on the assembly or parts used for this car.
I clearly see if a common issue with FORD vehicles and I'm sure there is something wrong. The fact that no one can tell me anything leave me to think this car is a Death Trap!!!!!
