On the route driven (9 miles) the EV refused to engage either while driving or even at a stop light. The battery charged to maximum and stayed there. The engine continued to run until shut off with the key. Other electrical components ran normally (A/C, cruise, radio) ran normally. I called the dealer and they had never heard of the problem, and asked me to bring in the car next week, assuring me it was not a problem. Are YOU sure??? no answer.
The only unusual function in the previous week was accidental running a short ways in the Low position on the Transmission. The car had been serviced and washed recently. Noting this I moved the shift lever through the positions prior to heading home.
I returned home after the car sat for about 3 hours. It drove normally, gradually reducing the battery to normal operating and normal engagement of the EV system.
I am concerned about overcharging the battery system, but the dealer cannot work on the car if it is not exhibiting the malfunction.
