On July 7, 2024 the check engine indicator came on. I was able to drive the car to the dealership on July 8, 2024. That morning I did experience white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. Diagnostics were ran. I was told I had a cylinder 1 misfire (code P0301) and the Long Block needed to be replaced due to coolant leaking into the engine block. I was told there was an existing technical service bulletin (22-2229) for engine failures on my 2017 Lincoln MKZ. As mentioned, I needed a new long block engine assembly and the cost was going to run me $8,453.79 (estimate was $8,455.53). My car had roughly 64k miles on it so it was out of warranty.
An appointment was made to have it worked on beginning July 22, 2024 and work was completed on July 26, 2024.
If this problem was known and others are experiencing problems why isn't there a legitimate recall on the engine? Why should consumers bear 100% of the cost?

Larry
