The vehicle was taken to a tire center, where they cut the lug nuts off. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was concerned that in the event of a blowout, the tire would not be able to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Lincoln MKZ. The contact stated while having the front passenger-??s side tire changed due to a flat, the lug nuts were difficult to remove. The contact stated that extra effort and energy was needed to remove the lug nuts to replace the tire. The dealer was contacted and stated that the failure was a known issue. The contact was informed that there was no recall on the VIN for the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 78,000.
2014 Lincoln Mkz. Consumer writes in regards to wheel lug nuts on vehicle being hazardous on the road. The consumer stated the lug nuts become over heated. Due to this failure, the issued lug wrench was unable to slip over the heated lug nuts.
