transmission failure

I have a 2013 Lincoln MKZ keep the vehicle in great condition. Was driving to work one day and the vehicle just decided to stop working and shut down! I would rate the reliability rate 2 out of 5 stars. The Transfer case went out which then of course lead the Transmission to go out as well. The vehicle only has barely 72,000 miles. This is a faulty error in the mechanical part. Anyways it cost roughly $8,000 total to fix the transmission, then an additional $6,000 to fix the transfer case. Not happy at all! I could have died on the freeway. This was all on my way to work in the morning too. Thank you Lincoln MKZ. I will not purchase another Lincoln again, I rate the reliability extremely low.

transmission failure

I'm still recovering from the shock. My car stopped moving forward yesterday. Towed it to Lincoln. They informed me that the transmission had "melted". Cost for just the transmission and labor is $5.8k.

But that isn't all. He also said I need to replace the power transfer unit, and that the transfer case is close to failing. Also, the shocks are rusty and cracking and need to be replaced. None of these are cheap things, and none should be an issue at 76k miles. The cherry on top is that I also need new brakes. All in all, they quoted $10k. This should not be a thing for a 6 year old car that has been regularly maintained by Lincoln themselves, and I did everything they recommended. I'm the original owner. Can't believe I paid $49k thinking I was getting a reliable car that would last me 15 years. I would expect this from a car that was being constantly mistreated, not one that had been loved from the get go.

Been a Ford fan since I was a kid. Don't even know who I am, anymore.

I bought a Lincoln because I wanted a reliable car. I thought I would buy another Lincoln in a year or so. After going to my son’s house in Indianapolis and having the transmission go out on me I am very upset. The transmission repair shop said it is very rare for this to happen with the mileage that is on it. I had to leave my car in Indianapolis and rent a car to drive home to Ohio.

Now I have to return my rental car in a week and pick up my car. This has been a huge stress and financial burden from what I considered a good car brand. I had a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer for over 6 years and never had this kind of problem. I read a lot of complaints on the internet about Lincolns and transmission problems but they are evidently doing nothing to address this problem. I no longer trust this company for being reliable.
