The parking brake on my Lincoln Mkz will not hold the vehicle on a slope. The dealer and Ford Motor Company say that there is nothing that cane be done about it. According to them, the brake is designed to function when the transmission is in park. That does not comply with the federal regulations for parking brakes which are quite clear. There is no mention of the transmission or park in that description. The vehicle is quite dangerous. Property and people will be damaged and hurt. The same braking system is used on the Ford edge....updated 11/07/12
