Excessive heating of heated/cooled front seats at approx. 40,000 miles. Temperature too high to touch. At 50,600 miles, dcsm module under the driver seat and associated pigtail wiring burned up, melting connector and wiring. Dealer evaluated prior over heating of both driver and passenger seats as normal at approx. 40,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2010 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated while stopped at a traffic ligh, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. During the crash the front driver and passenger seats collapsed backward. The contact and the passenger suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital. A police report was filed and the vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 33,700.
