I had the car jumped because there was no battery. I returned home, the lights and flashers turned on when I turned off the ignition. Had to have the Rescue Ranger come and remove cable from battery (as per Lincoln customer service.) He said to stand back, he could here the battery boiling. When the tow company hooked the cables back to tow the car, they said the same thing. Battery Boiling! Dealer said it was an ignition short. Charged me to repair though the car has 100,000 warranty.

One year later the car has had the same problem. Dead, year old battery. From the time I purchased the car, I have had dash lights flash on and off, radio on and off, electric seat not work, electric windows not work...Many times my cell phone would not turn on while charging in car and one time I couldn't get the phone to do anything while connected to the phone charger. I had to replace two batteries for my car phone, (I used to charge in car but no longer do this) Those batteries were so swollen they looked to explode. When discussing this with my sister, who owns the exact same year, make and model...she had same problems until the dealer put car on 24 hour test and found the Smart Junction Box was defective and replaced it. Now she no longer replaces a battery every year.

The car is now in the shop for the third time for battery replacement and I can't get the dealer to admit there is a computer malfunction causing this problem. While researching online. I see this year of other Ford's have had similar problems. They replace various parts (ie. window switches, ignition switches, door locks, etc....only to find down the road that smart junction box had to be replaced. I feel there should be a recall on these cars but don't know where to start this process.
