A D V E R T I S E M E N T S
My dash has warped all over the top area. I live in a hot climate so I've got limousine tint on the windows and use a sun shield religiously over the windshield. The result is unsightly, yes, but my defroster re-directs the air that's supposed to handle the windshield back toward me and downward instead of where its supposed to go. I tried gluing the vent down only to have it snap in half.
I wanted to try and glue down the dash but not many adhesives can handle to 200+ temps inside a closed up car. I finally have used a product by liquid nails after trying epoxy that didn't last a day. It's white and made for high temps. I glues the edges of the dash to the cross beam that runs just inside toward the seats, you can feel it if you reach inside. I taped the dash with painters tape and newspapers to prevent spills. I tucked a piece of a 2x2 with a cardboard notebook just thick enough to bare down on the dash and hold it until the liquid nails dried. Its been holding so far although I had to re-do the edges since they are little concave and didn't lay flat along the middle. It looks ok.
Now I've got to replace the broken grill piece that holds the sun sensor for climate control and also hope I'll not have to remove the dash. Funny that at the same time by AC drier sensor went out at the same time so no AC but learned a fix to by-pass that sensor you can find on Youtube. Because that sensor fix requires that you "remove", yes, the dash. This by-pass is done behind the glove box and luckily for me worked. I plan to try a junk yard for the vent first since I bet they have many 2007 MKZ's.
