Over the last year, I have experienced 5-7 occasions where my engine in my 2015 MKX stalls while driving. I hear a small bump, a yellow wrench appears to the left of my console, and I am unable to accelerate so I have to coast to the closest shoulder or safe place. I have about 5-10 seconds to get to safety (out of the road and harms way). As soon as the car stops, I am able to restart it and drive away. The problem is this - This can be a life threatening situation because depending on where I am in traffic, the volume and speeds of other traffic, I have little or no time to safely get my car off the road. When this occurred on Wed of last week, I was traveling down I-40, 5 lanes of traffic, was in the left-most lane, it was 5:05 p.m. (work traffic volume was bumper to bumper and escalated speeds in every lane). As soon as the problem occurred, I turned on my flashers, and slowly began to try to get to the shoulder of the road while navigating between many cars, trucks, and 18-wheelers who were driving bumper to bumper at excessive speeds. I was almost killed twice - once by a car that was driving at an excessive speed who swerved behind me almost hitting me and secondly, by an 18 wheeler who couldn't get stopped as I barely made it to the shoulder. The problem I'm experiencing with the dealership is they can't replicate the problem because it happens randomly, there is no electronic code to prove the problem exists, so although it's been to Green Lincoln multiple times, I'm sent away with nothing found. I have 2 small children and am very upset that this unaddressed problem is going to get me, my children or my entire family killed. The problem is serious, and I have contacted Lincoln Motor Company to report the issue and request assistance. They checked my VIN and said there were no recalls reported although I explained it is totally possible there are problems that become recalls that are not "YET" associated with a specific VIN. Finally, after I came home from the dealership and this very frightening experience, I began researching this problem and found MANY examples of Lincoln MKX owners who are experiencing the exact same problem. The majority of the reports were on the 2016 MKX, however, it's completely possible the problem started with the 2015's and blew up with the 2016. In the many reports I read, the problem related to the electronic throttle body (which needed to be replaced) and the software updated. The was one report it was related to the Purge body. If you own a Lincoln MKX or are thinking of owning own, be aware this is a SERIOUS PROBLEM that needs to be (but is not being) addressed by Lincoln and fixed. I also am experiencing electronics issues with my temperature buttons to change the temperature not working when it's cold, my electronic door opening not working on occasion. I also read that Ford Motor Company is been aware of this stalling issue for years. I have told my husband if anyone in my family gets killed due to this issue, he is to initiate litigation against the car manufacturer. It should not have to take people losing their lives for a car manufacturer to acknowledge, find, repair issues such as these!! My MKX is a 2015, 43,250 miles and cost a pretty penny. I should NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES!!!
