We bought this MKX used with about 79,000 km's on it. Nice shape. Not sure if there was a stress crack in the rear window when we bought it 8mnths ago. Not sure if that's even the actual cause. It had about 82,000 km's on it when the hatch window exploded. Oh ya, details about that. My wife calls her vehicle 'Ruby' as that's its color. Works for me.
Anyway, she opened the driver side rear door to put a couple bags on the seat, closed the door, and boom! That hatch window exploded and about a 6"x6" portion of the bottom driver side window fell in. Needless to say Ruby is still sitting in the garage until we get a plan because the rest of the window is shattered and hanging on by a thread.
When it happened Ruby was still parked in the garage and the temperature in there was about -4deg Celsius (detached garage, 8:05 AM, Jan. 27, 2020). We baby that damn vehicle, give it bubble baths, say only nice things around it, and this is the thanks we get!
Lincoln wouldn't touch it as warranty ended after 4yrs or 40,000k. Of course we could drive it too one of their locations and they 'would see what they could do about the situation'. Yeah sure, once its in their lair, they've got you.
I called Wheaton Honda where we bought it, not expecting much. And ya, they nicely said too bad so sad, but call their glass guys and tell them that Wheaton sent me. Maybe they would give me a dealer discount? That worked actually. My price was going to be $559 but with the dealer discount it was $499. They need it for 4hrs to replace and clean up the mess. I take it in tomorrow morning 8am. I made sure I got on here right away to rant and let any other 2014 MKX owners know about the potential disappointment you may encounter. But so far that's been the only issue. Then again, my wife only puts on about 5-6k a year...
Crystal Glass - South Common will be doing the replacement.
