My husband shut the back power lift gate on our 2012 Lincoln MKX, heard it click shut, started to pull the car into the garage. All of a sudden the lift gate started to come up. He quickly stopped the car, but the lift gate continued to rise and crashed into our house. It knocked the cap off the rear wiper and caused the liftgate glass to break. It also did very minor damage to our house. We feel strongly that this should not be our (or our insurance company's) liability. Lincoln has given us two denials. They will not pay for the repairs. We are awaiting a call from them tomorrow, but I feel it will be another denial. There is NO WAY we did anything wrong. It was a total Lincoln defect. We have owned many Ford cars through the years, but this may be our last. This could have an impact on our no-accident insurance discount and could ultimately cause a rate increase. I have been told by the service manager that replacing the rear liftgate module will fix the problem for the future. They will install that at no cost. But repairs could be extensive, and Lincoln should fix it. WE ARE VERY UPSET!!!!
