I was driving along, then wrench light appeared and I NO longer had power in gas pedal to accelerate. DANGEROUS!!!! My normal shop did a transmission maintenance and car ran great 1 day, next day same thing and engine light appeared. My car repair guy checked code, turbine speed sensor. sent me to dealership.
KOONS FORD did another diagnostic, charged me $109, then said it's 4 hours labor and both that and output sensor is bad so it's $800 job. I said no, bought parts. Online they are only $38 each but my mechanic will only use dealer parts so I had to pay diagnostic and $80 each part. Truck to be fixed tomorrow.
However, this is common Problem and DANGEROUS, yet so far its not recalled. Googling how many hours repair takes, it's between 2.7 and 2.8 hours. I DESPISE Dealerships trying to rip me because I am female. Not happy with dealer treatment AT ALL or that this is not yet recall. Too expensive for something that looks like it is majority not minority of Lincoln/Ford Edge problems........Did I mention how DANGEROUS it is??? I'm single parent driving my child in this EXPENSIVE SUV, yet I cannot accelerate....UNREAL!
Update from Oct 23, 2014: Soooo Koons Ford claimed I needed a turbine speed senser AND a speed output senser, all for around $800. I, instead, bought the parts from Ford and went back to MY Mechanic Sonny at Manik Auto in Catonsville. He fixed my truck, It ONLY needed the turbine speed senser, fixed for half the price and returned the output senser. (Despise the dealership, it took them over 25min to return a part making me late for work) Truck runs GREAT and now shifts normally and no lights come on.
