My 2007 Lincoln MKX was serviced throughout its life per manufacturer's recommendations at the dealership. At 122K miles the engine catastrophically failed by spinning a bearing. Root cause diagnosed at the Lincoln dealer was the water pump failed, water got mixed into the oil and therefore spun the bearing on the engine. Estimated cost to replace the motor is $8K so needless to say this car is scrapped.
I've owned Ford/Lincoln products for a good part of my life and while the car had over 100K on it, I did not anticipate a blown motor simply from your water pump going bad. I should also mention that I immediately stopped driving the car when the problem was recognized and had it towed to the dealer.
I could add a whole slew of things I fixed prior to this ($700 wheel bearing 2 weeks prior) but I would steer clear from buying these as a used vehicle as the repair/maintenance costs are very high and in worst case your car ends up like mine, salvaged.
