The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mkt. While parked for approximately nine hours, the vehicle caught fire on the driver side tail light housing. The owner extinguished the fire. The fire department arrived after the fire was extinguished. A report was filed by the fire department. There were no injuries. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

The dealer stated that the entire rear panel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mkt. The contact stated that the battery drained completely and there was no access to the trunk. The contact stated that there was not a mechanical override to open the trunk. The vehicle was taken to several dealers and the contact was advised by each of them that there was no remedy for the failure because the vehicle was operating as designed. The dealer then referred him to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and referred him to page 79 of the owner's manual, which explained how to override the system. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 900 and the current mileage was 13,000. Updated 02/26/13 updated 03/1/2013
