I was just driving along and the engine started knocking and sounding funny, then plumes of white smoke burst from the exhaust. I pulled into a safe place, looked under the hood, checked the oil level (which looked way too high!!!!). Found a vehicle repair station nearby but the car wouldn't start back up. The guys from the service station pushed the darn car to the shop.
The guy said the oil level was too high and the coolant was too low, but couldn't do anything because they didn't have the tools for the Lincoln. So, I had to have it towed 60 miles back home to the dealer, who looked at it and said they suspected a catastrophic water pump failure and the only remedy was to replace the engine to the tune of $9,000! Somebody at the dealership mentioned a class action lawsuit against Ford for this exact problem. I have signed up! Why do they put the water pump inside the engine case anyway??!!
