Catastrophic water pump failure. I was driving on the highway and the engine started knocking and white plumes burst from the exhaust. I was lucky enough to get off the highway and to a safe place before the engine failed completely.

I have two complaints on this vehicle. 1. driving down the road and hear a loud explosion that was the moonroof, . 2. the water pump was defective and put coolant into my oil and ruined the engine. This seems to have happened way too many times for this not to be a recall on both of these. My car literally overheated out of nowhere.

Ipulled into my drive way and my car died out no over heating no warning light no anything. I looked under my hood to check everything and noticed my coolant was gone I then poured more into it realizing that it was all going out of my car I but not onto the ground. I called an mechanic who told me my coolant leaked into my oil my water pump failed. It failed internal to the timing chain cover and dumped a large amount of coolant into the crankcase which then contaminated the engine oil and over filled the oil pan. Im glad that I was home and not driving down the street because this could have caused a major accident. On further research I have found this has occurred many times. The engine in question is the cyclone engine and is Ford latest V6 family of gasoline engines introduced in 2006, and is known as the duratec 35 which displaces 3.5 L, the duratec 37 which displaces 3.7L and the ecoboost 35 which is atwin turbo charged variant of the duratec 35, these engines are installed in the following vehicles, 2007'present Ford edge, 2010'2012 Ford Fusion sport, 2011'present Ford mustang, 2009'present Ford flex, 2010'present Ford Taurus sho, 2013'present police interceptor sedan, 2011'present Ford Explorer, 2013'present Ford police interceptor utility, 2011'present Ford F-150, 2015'present Ford Expedition/Expedition el, 2014'present Ford transit, 2015'present Lincoln Navigator/Navigator L, 2010'present Lincoln mks, and 2010'present Lincoln Mkt which is the car I have

A gas type odor enters cabin of vehicle. I believe it to be carbon monoxide. I often have to roll down the windows even in cold winter weather to prevent carbon monoxide from overtaking the cabin when the heating system is on.

Over the last 2 weeks, my Lincoln Mkt has experienced several episodes of shuddering and loss of power. In addition, a significant amount of smoke has been spewing out of the tail pipes occasionally - this usually happens for several seconds after the vehicle is started. I first noticed the shuddering while driving along the highway. The next day, there was a significant loss of power while driving. The dealer diagnosed it and said it is a turbo underboost problem that can be remedied by replacing the turbos. Due to the significant cost of replacement, they suggest that I consider replacing the vehicle, as some of their customers do. This tells me we have a known issue! a turbo problem on a vehicle with under 100,000 miles? sounds like a major defect that the manufacturer should be aware of.

The contact owns a 2010 Lincoln Mkt. While driving at any speed, the turbo fuel line emitted exhaust fumes into the vehicle. The contact stated that the engine remained on after the vehicle was turned off. In addition, the passenger side door handle was fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failures were unable to be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 100,125. Updated 02/24/16

I bought certified (cpo) 2010 Lincoln Mkt in Aug 2013. It had a mileage of around 50500 miles. After running just around 5K, it shivered and broke down on a trip when I was about to merge to highway from an exit and there were white fumes from the cylinder. At first they mentioned, there is a problem with fuel injector and it needs to be replaced. Later they mentioned of a problem with few other parts and replaced the same too. Then they mentioned of replacing the engine and done the same. But problem didn't solve. Later they changed the torque sensor or something and gave the vehicle after 1.5 months. But I was hearing some type of noise from the hood and returned to dealership in 2 days. And then they mentioned of replacing engine belt and axle. But still problem was unsolved and they asked me to authorize for opening the dash to determine the problem. But I opposed it and contacted Lincoln. Later they authorized the labour and took the car again to workshop. After that they changed pulley belt. But the noise didn't disappear. Later they had an engineer from Lincoln come and examine the vehicle. And the engineer asked of replacing the transmission. But it too didn't work. And the Lincoln engineer came up again and mentioned of replacing 1 upper engine mount, 1 upper transmission mount, 1 front engine roll restrictor, 1 rear engine roll restrictor. It's already more than 4.5 months since when vehicle is under repairs and with no luck. In between a claim was made with Lincoln to buy back or replace the vehicle, but they refused the same as well. So far below repairs have been made but the problem is still not solved 100%.

First time I was driving at about 20 miles per hour and let go of the gas pedal the car jumped out of drive and did a jerking sound they replied it was 2 solenoids were replaced the next time I was diving up a hill with a 20% grade and tried to accelerate and it lost all power. It remained the same on acceleration. No power what so ever until I made it to the top.

When I first got the car in 2010, the first incident occurred while I was driving about 40 mph. I would step on the accelerator and the car would jerk and the RPM's would rev up and nothing would happen. On an oil change service, I reported this to the dealer and they said they could not reproduce the incident and nothing showed up on the computer record chip. On many occasions after, the same thing would happen, I would step on the accelerator and the car would jerk furiously and the RPM's would rev up and nothing would happen...the car was at a standstill. This would happen while I was sitting at a traffic light or trying to make a left turn. If I was trying to make a left turn and this occurred, I could of gotten killed if the car did not move during the middle of the turn....luckily there was no oncoming traffic when it happened. I reported this may times to different Lincoln dealers in the metro detroit area...they all said it could not be reproduced...they made me feel as though I was crazy for reporting this. I would even go to the dealer on the day it would happen so they could check the computer chip within 24 hours of the incident and still nothing showed up. Finally, a check engine light came on about a year ago, and the dealer finally determined that it was a speed sensor that went bad. The dealer could not detect the problem if the speed sensor was partially bad, it had to fully go bad in order for it to be detected. This was very frustrating and cost me a lot of time, money, energy and mental anguish wondering if I was going to die because the car would not work while I was turning or in the middle of traffic.
