We bought this used 2017 Lincoln MKC premiere at a Lincoln dealer less than one year ago. It had 64,000 miles on it and cost about $13,400. Then with 68,000 miles, a couple weeks ago, the check engine light came on. After scanning it, we got the P0302 code cylinder 2 misfire. The acceleration also felt more sluggish since then. Last week, the dash showed a "coolant low" light and the temperature began to rise. Upon inspection, there was no coolant leak to be seen. Coolant was added to the reservoir, and later checked to find it had gone down again. There was also white smoke from exhaust.

Two independent mechanics stated that the motor needed to be replaced due to coolant entering engine.

Called Lincoln to see if this may be covered under warranty but even though it falls under the 70,000 miles, it had been more than 6 years, so no warranty. They advise that they may be able to help financially in this case since we only bought it less than a year ago and driven about 4,000 miles only. To do so they need a formal diagnosis from Lincoln or Ford. The car was taken to Lincoln, and the technician concurred the coolant had entered the motor. They state they would replace the engine with a 2019 engine that "doesn't have this problem." The cost would be $8,200. Information online shows that the defective ECO-boost engines were made from 2017-2020, so need to ensure we get the "good" version of the 2.0.

We are waiting to hear from Lincoln customer relations to see what their "offer" is and how much we would still have to pay.
