This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The driver side rear passenger door would not latch closed and had to be secured to drive to dealer through the use of a seat belt through the inside door handle. This occurred at approximately 79,000 miles. This repair was not covered by dealer. This was a latch and motor repair of $1,000, also caused an expense of an additional $550 to me of a rental car as dealer did not get a part for 6 days. Lincoln Concierge could care less, just awful customer relations from Ford/Lincoln.
The driver side passenger door handle failed and would not open from the outside. This occurred at approximately 75,003 miles. This repair was just outside my extended vehicle warranty.
The driver door would not latch closed all of a sudden, had to be secure to drive to dealer through the use of a seat belt through the inside door handle. This occurred at approximately 65,000 miles. This repair was within my extended vehicle warranty.
Defective E-Latch (press button activated door latch), rear passenger side door. The button is defective- subject to recall, however, my VIN not included. In addition to the defective button installed on our car; this car has a safety design defect in that the manufacturer has not provided the rear passengers a mechanical means of escape in the event of an accident and the button malfunctions or is defective (as is the case with our vehicle). The manufacturer provides such a latch for the front seat passengers. But apparently had no concern for the safety of the rear passengers. I called Lincoln and alerted them to my concerns- they refused to replace my defective button (car out of warranty and not subject to the VIN specific recall) and similarly were unconcerned regarding my concerns over the hazards presented by the negligent design. All of these cars should be recalled and those E-Latches replaced and the rear doors retrofitted with an emergency mechanical latch.
The doors on our 2017 Lincoln Continental open while driving. We called the dealership and they said they cannot fix it for another year. It is unsafe to drive because of doors opening at times and not unlocking at times too. We called the dealership as soon as we found out this problem last year and they just told us to call this year, so we did - so basically we have to wait 2 years to get our Lincoln fixed? doors open while driving. Doors will not latch while driving or stationary.
"takata recall", on April 25, I was traveling to atlanta, ga from Virginia to attend a conference and stopped to get gas and my driver's door locked me inside the car. I had to use the latch to release the lock. I have contacted dealership about the issue and I have not received any remedy to this issue. My vehicle will not let me set the cruise control on the highway, the wrench light stays lit and I'm worried about what else maybe wrong. I'm afraid to drive my car that I'm paying payments on. It has been almost 5 months and still no remedy.
We are dissatisfied with the level of service from the Lincoln motor company and serramonte Ford dealership in colma, California, with specific reference to the case, cas-1758606, recall 19S03 and NHTSA recall # 1V-077. Our vehicle's driver door will not close and is unsafe to drive. The ongoing issue has been problematic for victoria sedan & limousine. The vehicle has been at the dealership since April 1, 2019, and has not been resolved even after contacting serramonte Ford, Ford headquarters as well as Lincoln concierge. We were denied a loaner vehicle or any sort of compensation for time loss and the lack of effort in resolving this issue in a timely manner has forced us to take a financial loss, reassign the chauffeur who had the vehicle and put a strain on our operations. What makes matters worse is that we have learned that one of our partners; with the same type of business had the same issue with their Lincoln Continental. They took it to the Ford Lincoln dealership in concord, California and were given a loaner while their car awaited the defective part which has since been repaired. This raises the question as to why our operation was treated differently. We are reaching out to you to see if you can H assist us getting the issue resolved as the agencies mentioned were unable to do so.
At 49000 miles the left rear door would not open from the outside for a week. It then worked ok until 50500. We told the dealership and they said it was out of warranty. At 51000 miles now both rear doors will not work from the outside. If I am in a wreck there is no way to get anyone out of the rear of this car. I have purchased a hammer to get people out in an emergency. It seems a car rear door button should last longer than a year or two.
