I just joined this site so I can't remember the exact date, but we were driving to the airport and the car just lost power. We made it to a safe parking place and got a ride to the airport. We had it towed to our mechanic who had no clue what was wrong. It sat there for months as Lexus wanted to charge big $$ to fix it. Finally the recall notice was issued and the vehicle was towed to a dealership where it was repaired. I was stupid to buy the first year of a hybrid. I wish I had never bought this specific vehicle, although I love Lexus.

shut down while driving

Just got on the highway for a family outing when the truck suddenly started slowing down. Pulled over on the shoulder, the screen said "Check hybrid system." Shut off the truck and tried to restart but nothing. Had to get a flatbed tow to the dealership. Took about a week for the repairs, had to get a new inverter which was covered under a recall. Lexus didn't pay for the rental, and because it happened on a weekend the only thing available was a V8 Dodge Ram. I had a daily 160 Km round-trip commute to work the week of the repairs so that cost over $500. The dealership told me the inverter would have been $7000 if I had to pay for it.
