This complaint is about engine / transmission performance in 2017 Lexus RX 350 which has occurred since the vehicle was purchased new. The vehicle has a selectable engine performance dial for ECO, Normal and Sport. The vehicle is almost undriveable in ECO due to the hunting of the engine to figure out what it wants to do when accelerating, hesitation during acceleration and a type of engine miss or hunting on a level road and on any type of incline. Driving in Normal, the vehicle is a little better, but not much and when driving the car in Sport mode the vehicle is very close to normal but you need to be extremely careful with the accelerator pedal due to surging.
I have a service plan on the vehicle and have explained the issue to the service agent each time I have the vehicle services and have been told that there may be transmission updates which they did upload, but nothing has changed. I was also told that the vehicle learns how I drive, I must be a very poor teacher. I do not have unrealistic expectations for the vehicle, but this is the most expensive and worst performing car I have ever own in my 35 years of driving.
