The car frequently stops accelerating, for 2 - 3 seconds up to as much as 8 - 9 seconds. If I push the pedal to the floor it does no good, and the car's acceleration won't resume until several seconds later. If I immediately release the pedal and immediately repress it, then acceleration resumes correctly. This problem has numerous times almost gotten me run into. Sometimes it happens several times a day, sometimes not for several days. Dealer says they can't duplicate it so can't fix it. I've had numerous Lexus courtesy cars since I bought my 2012 LX350 new in late 2011, and 3 of the courtesy cars have had the same problem, but still the dealer claims they can't duplicate the problem.
It's hard to believe they can't duplicate a problem that happens on multiple vehicles.
My car has 65,000 miles and I've tried about a dozen times to get the Lexus dealer where I purchased the car new to fix it. But it's always the same response from them, that they can't duplicate the problem. I've called other Lexus dealers and they all claim not to know about the problem. I've seen on the internet other owners reporting the same problem, all saying their Lexus dealer can't or won't fix it.
They always tell me to use only Chevron premium. I tried that for a few thousand miles, to no avail. I've used premium, regular, Costco regular (which the dealer claims is horrible gas), but every one does the same thing, even if I stick to one choice for over a thousand miles. There's no discernible difference in how often the problem occurs.
Most of the time the problem happens when starting from a stop or from a slow speed, turning left, and accelerating. It I'm entering an intersection and making a left turn after waiting at a red light, it'll happen before I've cleared the intersection. Occasionally it'll happen when I go to pass a slower car on a 2-lane highway when I was already going 50 miles an hour. For the last year, since I moved into a house on a pretty steep hill, it often happens when I turn left to go up the steep street to get to my house; it'll happen within the first 50 feet of going up the steep street. It's no fun losing acceleration on a steep up hill.
