My husband and I chose the Lexus because it is made by Toyota which we had previously owned and had great luck with. After consumer reports gave this car a stellar rating, we didn't hesitate when looking for a car. We bought it used and kept up with the general maintenance.

After the car was just out of warranty the transmission showed no signs of a problem but just stopped while driving. After speaking with our local dealership, we were told we had a good case for them to fix it since it was slightly out of warranty. After waiting 2 weeks for an answer and without a car to drive, they turned us down saying we hadn't had the transmission serviced at a dealership so they wouldn't fix it. I was extremely disappointed that a car with this reputation and cost fell apart and needed such an expensive repair right out of warranty. My only explanation is we got a lemon!

I can't find a lot of complaints about this kind of car. I'm wondering if it is because most people haven't gotten to this mileage yet with their 2009 and haven't encountered this problem yet. Major disappointment in Lexus!
