In April 2014, my mom was contacted by Lexus about the melting dashboard issue that has plagued almost 5 million Lexus vehicles. She was told she would have to "wait in line" for her customer number to pop up in the system in order to fix the melting dashboard, which has affected her visibility when it is sunny outside as well as her steering mechanism. We do not know if there is damage to the airbags, but with a continuously melting dashboard we can only imagine the damage and danger that lurks underneath. The steering has gotten progressively more difficult as the dash cracks and melts more. There are multiple cracks throughout the dash that have gotten progressively worse and interfere with the integrity of the inside of the car. Soon, the parts attached to the dash may disassemble while she is driving, which can potentially kill other passengers on the road and herself. We reached out to Lexus corporate and in March 2016, after multiple attempts to go through the local dealer both here and in North Florida, Lexus refuses to fix her dashboard and continues to ignore our pleas and demands for attention to this matter. Please refer to attached photos.
I'm complaining about my dashboard. It's all cracked and I'm afraid the cracks are going to reach the airbag and it's going to pop out. I never seem so many cracks on such a luxury and expensive car. I used to have a Ford Explorer for 11 yrs and this never happen to it. I know so many people with Lexus and Toyota the have this same problems. I think the company should fix it. Very frustrated or fix it for cheap. I would of thought these company would use better materials. Thank you concern driver
Earlier this year I noticed cracks showing up around my ignition, those cracks have spread up to the top of the dash on the drivers side. Now, there are cracks on the passenger side leading up to and around the airbag. Just this week, I noticed the dash is starting to get tacky and dust is starting to stick to it. I am beginning to be concerned. About the safety as it appears the dash is deteriorating more and more as the days go by and am concerned for anyone riding with me. I understand Lexus has been aware of this problem for quite sometime but have failed to correct the defective dashes.

The dashboard on my 2006 Lexus RX330 has deteriorated over time. There are cracks in the dash, and soft spots that reflect sunlight as glare to the occupants of the car. My Lexus dealership (Lexus of tampa bay, fl) has so far been unable to help me with the dashboard defect. They told me Toyota corporate won't acknowledge the defect, nor provide any relief, especially since my car is out of warranty. I should note my car is kept in a garage, and the dashboard is only exposed to the Florida sun when I am driving (with the air conditioning on).
My dashboard on my 2006 Lexus rx 330 is literally peeling off, it is cracked everywhere and in some spots the dashboard coating/cover is just not there, it has crumbled and fell off.
Dashboard cracking and falling apart. For a $40,000 + car is is a disgrace and discourages me from ever buying a Toyota vehicle again. Lexus dealer said $2,500+ to replace. I should not have to pay for their incompetence and use of inferior materials. Especially for a luxury car. The problem would be worse if not for the fact that the car is garaged.
