Lexus has not assembled/secured the airbag wiring proper underneath of seat and prompts the B1140 right-hand side air bag sensor assembly B1141 left-hand side air bag sensor assembly codes in 2002 RX300 models. This is one of the most common problem on this vehicle and can be deadly for these cars considering the airbags want deploy in an accident because of the lose and not properly secured wiring. Dealer asks $1800 to get this corrected where as this is a manufacturing defect. Needs a recall for both (left/right) seats airbag wiring/ECM circuits.

The contact owns a 2002 Lexus rx 300. The contact stated that the vehicle was involved in a crash and none of the air bags deployed. The contact mentioned that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the failure. As a result, he sustained a head injury after hitting the dashboard. The driver of the other vehicle suffered a neck injury. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 290,000.

TL- the contact owns a 2002 Lexus RX300. The contact stated that while parking vehicle, there was an abnormal increase in engine rpms as the vehicle accelerated independently. The vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into a fence before coming to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy and the contact suffered injuries to the right shoulder. The vehicle was not destroyed. The contact called the manufacturer and the manufacturer sent a technician to examine the vehicle failure. The technician stated that because there were two flat tires on the vehicle due to the sudden acceleration, the vehicle could not be properly examined. The failure mileage was 135,000. The contact owns a 2002 Lexus RX300. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, she noticed that the engine attempted to start itself before the key was turned all the way in the ignition. She proceeded to shift the vehicle from park into drive. The vehicle accelerated quickly and would not stop, even when the brakes were applied. The vehicle crashed through the garage door and, approximately 10 feet further, struck a retaining wall, her neighbor's home, and a gas meter. The contact placed the vehicle into reverse and it sped back through her retaining wall and struck her home. The air bags did not deploy and there were no injuries. A police report was filed and the vehicle was destroyed. The dealer stated that they had never heard of this type of failure. She attempted to notify the manufacturer, but was unable to reach anyone. The current and failure mileages were 61,232. Updated 11/10/09

The contact owns a 2002 Lexus RX300. While driving 35-45 mph, the contact stated that another vehicle crashed into the drivers side of her vehicle. The airbags did not deploy. The contact sustained a concussion and neck injuries and felt this was caused because the airbags did not deploy. As of May 27, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle.
