This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Driver-??s side door handle/mechanism/latch failure results in issues with opening and closing door representing a potentially major safety issue. Door could open on its own at highway speeds resulting in mass injury and/or death resultant from driver falling out of uncontrolled vehicle. Multiple owners of same year/make/model have reported malfunction of the same driver-??s side handle as demonstrated below: https://youtu.be/26SLPCm_mnM
This is an addendum to my previous complaint number 11021722 regarding malfunction of blind spot monitors as I neglected to include the history I have had with the dealer. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealer no less than 4 times. Initially they acknowledged the problem (technician rode with me) but could not resolve it. They admit that other cars of this model are exhibiting the same problem. Now they are telling me that Lexus has made a "platform" change to the system. I find it difficult to believe that a manufacturer would intentionally change a system to make it unreliable. Having a safety system that only works about half the time is extremely dangerous.
Blind spot monitors on outside mirrors only register at best only approximately 50% of the time when a car is passed. This happens when my car is moving at different speeds, on different types of roads, and with varying types of vehicles passed (ie.semis, sports cars, box trucks, etc.).
