The right-hand knob on the radio is used for various functions - tuning to a station, tone control settings, etc. On my radio, the control became very erratic and almost impossible to use. When you turned it, it might do nothing at all, it might adjust by a small amount, or it might adjust by some huge and unpredictable amount. Basically, whatever kind of position sensor they use for that control broke and became erratic in its operation.
I assumed that I would have to spend some money to have the radio repaired, but much to my surprise I found that THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT FIXED IS TO BUY A COMPLETE NEW RADIO AND SIMPLY THROW OUT THE OLD ONE - just because one control went bad. Buying a new unit (including radio, CD changer, and cassette player) for this car was VERY expensive. I feel it is completely unreasonable that you can't get a radio fixed. (Plus, it was unreasonable for an electronic control like this to fail when the car was just a few years old.)
