My son's Lexus 2007 IS250 power steering went out, just stopped working without warning a couple weeks ago, and never worked since then. He's had a few technicians look at it and have given him different diagnosis and different prices to fix. This has been a fairly safe car up until now. He takes good care of his car. Not sure how to get an honest answer for the solution to the problem without a high price.

I stopped by at the grocery store for around 30 minutes. As I was backing up to get out of the parking spot, the steering wheel was so heavy and stiff. I had restarted many times but the steering wheel was stuck, and required lot of strength to turn just a little. So, the car was towed to the repair shop. The mechanic said that the sensor to control the power steering simply stopped working. He is now looking for the aftermarket part to replace it. I was scared to drive this car now because it could cause a serious accident if it happened while driving. This should be a safety recall.
